THE BIBLE
PSALMS
147:5 Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.
31:3 … thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name’s sake lead me, and guide me.
43:3 … send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me;
66:4 O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth.
JEREMIAH
7:21 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel;
23 Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.
11:4 so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God:
PROVERBS
3:5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
I KINGS
3:5 In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.
6 And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
7 And now, O Lord my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.
9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?
10 And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.
11 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;
12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.
JUDGES
8:22 ¶ … the men of Israel said unto Gideon, Rule thou over us, both thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son also: for thou hast delivered us from the hand of Midian.
23 And Gideon said unto them, I will not rule over you, neither shall my son rule over you: the Lord shall rule over you.
MICAH
4:1 … in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.
2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths:
3 ¶ And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
ISAIAH
9:2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever.
MATTHEW
19:1 And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan;
2 And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.
22:15 ¶ Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk.
16 And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, …
17 … What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?
18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?
19 Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.
20 And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?
21 They say unto him, Caesar’s. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.
22 When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way.
26:52 … they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
JAMES
4:12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save …
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God.
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.
10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
REVELATION
19:1 And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:
2 For true and righteous are his judgments:
11:15 … and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
11:17 We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.
ISAIAH
33:22 … the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king;

146:10 The Lord shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations.
SCIENCE & HEALTH WITH KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES
BY MARY BAKER EDDY:
SH 149:26-27 God (to 4th ,)
God, divine Mind, governs all, not partially but supremely, …
SH 270:10
Few deny the hypothesis that intelligence, apart from man and matter, governs the universe; and it is generally admitted that this intelligence is the eternal Mind or divine Principle, Love.
SH 171:12-13
Mind’s control over the universe, including man, is no longer an open question, but is demonstrable Science.
SH 393:16-18
Be firm in your understanding that the divine Mind governs, and that in Science man reflects God’s government.
SH 307:26
Man was not created from a material basis, nor bidden to obey material laws which Spirit never made; his province is in spiritual statutes, in the higher law of Mind.
SH 128:4-6
The term Science, properly understood, refers only to the laws of God and to His government of the universe, inclusive of man.
SH 127:26-2
Science is an emanation of divine Mind, and is alone able to interpret God aright. It has a spiritual, and not a material origin. It is a divine utterance, — the Comforter which leadeth into all truth. Christian Science eschews what is called natural science, in so far as this is built on the false hypotheses that matter is its own lawgiver, that law is founded on material conditions, and that these are final and overrule the might of divine Mind.
SH 225:14-16
The history of our country, like all history, illustrates the might of Mind, and shows human power to be proportionate to its embodiment of right thinking.
SH 106:6-11
Like our nation, Christian Science has its Declaration of Independence. God has endowed man with inalienable rights, among which are self-government, reason, and conscience. Man is properly self‐governed only when he is guided rightly and governed by his Maker, divine Truth and Love.
SH 420:3-4
Truth not error, Love not hate, Spirit not matter, governs man.
SH 36:30-31
Religious history repeats itself in the suffering of the just for the unjust.
SH 225:2-??
Whatever enslaves man is opposed to the divine government.
SH 405:2 (only), 5-9
Hatred inflames the brutal propensities.
Christian Science commands man to master the propensities, — to hold hatred in abeyance with kindness, to conquer lust with chastity, revenge with charity, and to overcome deceit with honesty.
SH 94:12
The eastern empires and nations owe their false government to the misconceptions of Deity there prevalent. Tyranny, intolerance, and bloodshed, wherever found, arise from the belief that the infinite is formed after the pattern of mortal personality, passion, and impulse.
SH 239:11-13
The wicked man is not the ruler of his upright neighbor. Let it be understood that success in error is defeat in Truth.
SH 224:29-2
The power of God brings deliverance to the captive. No power can withstand divine Love.
SH 227:18
“Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” Love and Truth make free, but evil and error lead into captivity.
SH 225:21
Love is the liberator.
SH 473:7-10
The God‐principle is omnipresent and omnipotent. God is everywhere, and nothing apart from Him is present or has power.
SH 215:12-14
Whatever is governed by God, is never for an instant deprived of the light and might of intelligence and Life.
SH 458:23-24
The Christianly scientific man reflects the divine law, thus becoming a law unto himself.
SH 180:25-27
When man is governed by God, the ever-present Mind who understands all things, man knows that with God all things are possible.
SH 587:25-26 (to 3rd ;)
Heaven. Harmony; the reign of Spirit; government by divine Principle;
SH 208:20
Let us learn of the real and eternal, and prepare for the reign of Spirit, the kingdom of heaven, — the reign and rule of universal harmony, which cannot be lost nor remain forever unseen.
SH 19:29-3
Jesus urged the commandment, “Thou shalt have no other gods before me,” which may be rendered: Thou shalt have no belief of Life as mortal; thou shalt not know evil, for there is one Life, — even God, good. He rendered “unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.”
SH 182:19-22
Obedience to material law prevents full obedience to spiritual law, — the law which overcomes material conditions and puts matter under the feet of Mind.
SH 91:1-8
The Revelator tells us of “a new heaven and a new earth.” Have you ever pictured this heaven and earth, inhabited by beings under the control of supreme wisdom?
Let us rid ourselves of the belief that man is separated from God, and obey only the divine Principle, Life and Love. Here is the great point of departure for all true spiritual growth.
SH 76:20 man
… man is immortal and lives by divine authority.
SH 125:16-17
Reflecting God’s government, man is self-governed.
SH vii:20
Though empires fall, “the Lord shall reign forever.”
SH 17:12-15
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.
For God is infinite, all-power, all Life, Truth, Love, over all, and All.
SH 227:16 (only)
God made man free.

Rudimental Divine Science
(RUD. 1:1-4)
How would you define Christian Science?
As the law of God, the law of good, interpreting and demonstrating the divine Principle and rule of universal harmony.
The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany,
(MY. 276:21; 278:7)
In reply to a number of requests for an expression of her political views, she has given out this statement: — I am asked, “What are your politics?” I have none, in reality, other than to help support a righteous government; to love God supremely, and my neighbor as myself.
The government of divine Love is supreme. Love rules the universe, and its edict hath gone forth: “Thou shalt have no other gods before me,” and “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” Let us have the molecule of faith that removes mountains, — faith armed with the understanding of Love, as in divine Science, where right reigneth. The revered President and Congress of our favored land are in God’s hands.
God Governs Governments
By Kathleen O’Connor
Christian Science Sentinel, October 5, 1968
… democratic government can rise no higher than the aggregate consciousness of the people comprising it. At present it is held back by selfishness, greed, dishonesty, apathy, and unwillingness to assume responsibilities commensurate with individual rights.
Christian Science reiterates the truths inherent in the teachings of Christ Jesus, namely, that there is in reality only one government, that of divine Mind, Spirit, the Supreme Ruler of the universe, including man, His spiritual image and likeness. The Christian Scientist endeavors to keep this fact always before him, trusting God wholeheartedly with the government not only of his home, his business, his church, but also of his country and of all nations.
Christian Scientists have a unique and challenging opportunity to rise above the material sense of government or misgovernment. They can demonstrate that God governs at all times and in all places, that His government is supreme, and “that all things work together for good to them that love God.”
