PSALMS
62:7 In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
86:11 Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth:
89:26 Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.
HABAKKUK
1:12 ¶ Art thou not from everlasting, O Lord my God, mine Holy One?
13 Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity:
DEUTERONOMY
32:3 … ascribe ye greatness unto our God.
4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.
SCIENCE AND HEALTH
SH 593:18
ROCK. Spiritual foundation; Truth.
SH 136:1-2
Jesus established his church and maintained his mission on a spiritual foundation of Christ-healing.
SH 484:3 neither
… neither pride, prejudice, bigotry, nor envy can wash away its foundation, for it is built upon the rock, Christ.
SH 297:27-28 no
… no mortal testimony is founded on the divine rock. Mortal testimony can be shaken.
SH 297:28 Until
Until belief becomes faith, and faith becomes spiritual understanding, human thought has little relation to the actual or divine.
JOHN
8:12 ¶ Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
8:31 … if ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
SCIENCE AND HEALTH
SH vii:13-20
The time for thinkers has come. Truth, independent of doctrines and time-honored systems, knocks at the portal of humanity.
Contentment with the past and the cold conventionality of materialism are crumbling away. Ignorance of God is no longer the stepping‐stone to faith. The only guarantee of obedience is a right apprehension of Him whom to know aright is Life eternal.
SH 330:8-15, 19-27
When the following platform is understood and the letter and the spirit bear witness, the infallibility of divine metaphysics will be demonstrated.
I. God is infinite, the only Life, substance, Spirit, or Soul, the only intelligence of the universe, including man. Eye hath neither seen God nor His image and likeness. Neither God nor the perfect man can be discerned by the material senses.
II. God is what the Scriptures declare Him to be, — Life, Truth, Love. Spirit is divine Principle, and divine Principle is Love, and Love is Mind, and Mind is not both good and bad, for God is Mind; therefore there is in reality one Mind only, because there is one God.
III. The notion that both evil and good are real is a delusion of material sense, which Science annihilates. Evil is nothing, no thing, mind, nor power.
SH 331:11
V. The Scriptures imply that God is All-in-all. From this it follows that nothing possesses reality nor existence except the divine Mind and His ideas. The
Scriptures also declare that God is Spirit. Therefore in Spirit all is harmony, and there can be no discord; all is Life, and there is no death. Everything in God’s universe expresses Him.
I JOHN
4:6 We are of God:
7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8 … for God is love.
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear.
18 …He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

SH 331:18-31
VI. God is individual, incorporeal. He is divine Principle, Love, the universal cause, the only creator, and there is no other self-existence. He is all‐inclusive, and is reflected by all that is real and eternal and by nothing else. He fills all space, and it is impossible to conceive of such omnipresence and individuality except as infinite Spirit or Mind. Hence all is Spirit and spiritual.
VII. Life, Truth, and Love constitute the triune Person called God, — that is, the triply divine Principle, Love. They represent a trinity in unity, three in one, — the same in essence, though multiform in office: God the Father-Mother; Christ the spiritual idea of sonship; divine Science or the Holy Comforter.
SH 332:4-5
VIII. Father-Mother is the name for Deity, which indicates His tender relationship to His spiritual creation.
MATTHEW
16:13 ¶ When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
NUMBERS
23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, …
ACTS
6:8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.
55 … he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.

SH 332:9-11, 17-26, 29-30
IX. Jesus was born of Mary. Christ is the true idea voicing good, the divine message from God to men speaking to the human consciousness.
The corporeal man Jesus was human.
X. Jesus demonstrated Christ; he proved that Christ is the divine idea of God — the Holy Ghost, or Comforter, revealing the divine Principle, Love, and leading into all truth.
XI. Jesus was the son of a virgin. He was appointed to speak God’s word and to appear to mortals in such a form of humanity as they could understand as well as perceive.
He expressed the highest type of divinity, which a fleshly form could express in that age.
SH 482:16-22
Jesus called himself “the Son of man,” but not the son of Joseph. As woman is but a species of the genera, he was literally the Son of Man. Jesus was the highest human concept of the perfect man. He was inseparable from Christ, the Messiah, — the divine idea of God outside the flesh.
SH 333:16-23
XIII. The advent of Jesus of Nazareth marked the first century of the Christian era, but the Christ is without beginning of years or end of days. Throughout all generations both before and after the Christian era, the Christ, as the spiritual idea, — the reflection of God, — has come with some measure of power and grace to all prepared to receive Christ, Truth.
JOHN
14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
16:13 … when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth:
GALATIANS
5:22 … the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
6:8 … he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
ROMANS
7:6 … we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
14 For we know that the law is spiritual:

XVII. Spirit being God, there is but one Spirit, for there can be but one infinite and therefore one God.
SH 335:1-2 (2nd There), 7-8 (to 2nd .), 13, 18
There is no evil in Spirit, because God is Spirit.
XVIII. Spirit, God, has created all in and of Himself. Spirit never created matter.
Things spiritual and eternal are substantial. Things material and temporal are insubstantial.
XIX. Spirit is eternal, divine. Nothing but Spirit, Soul, can evolve Life, for Spirit is more than all else. Because Soul is immortal, it does not exist in mortality. Soul must be incorporeal to be Spirit, for Spirit is not finite. Only by losing the false sense of Soul can we gain the eternal unfolding of Life as immortality brought to light.
PHILIPPIANS
2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

XX. Mind is the divine Principle, Love, and can produce nothing unlike the eternal Father-Mother, God.
Nothing unspiritual can be real, harmonious, or eternal.
SH 336:1-6, 13-14 infinite
XXI. Mind is the I am, or infinity. Mind never enters the finite. Intelligence never passes into non-intelligence, or matter. Good never enters into evil, the unlimited into the limited, the eternal into the temporal, nor the immortal into mortality.
XXII. … infinite Mind can never be in man, but is reflected by man.
SH 483:32-2
Christianity will never be based on a divine Principle and so found to be unerring, until its absolute Science is reached.
SH 147:14 never
… never believe that you can absorb the whole meaning of the Science by a simple perusal of this book. The book needs to be studied, and the demonstration of the rules of scientific healing will plant you firmly on the spiritual groundwork of Christian Science.
SH 459:31
The Christian Scientist should understand and adhere strictly to the rules of divine metaphysics as laid down in this work, and rest his demonstration on this sure basis.
SH 336:25-26
XXIV. God, the divine Principle of man, and man in God’s likeness are inseparable, harmonious, and eternal.

“One Cause and Effect”
Miscellaneous Writings 21:9; 22:3-5; 25:12-19
By Mary Baker Eddy
Our Master said, “The works that I do shall ye do also;” and, “The kingdom of God is within you.” This makes practical all his words and works. As the ages
advance in spirituality, Christian Science will be seen to depart from the trend of other Christian denominations in no wise except by increase of spirituality.
Science is neither a law of matter nor of man. It is the unerring manifesto of Mind, the law of God, its divine Principle.
Science, understood, translates matter into Mind, rejects all other theories of causation, restores the spiritual and original meaning of the Scriptures, and explains the teachings and life of our Lord. It is religion’s “new tongue,” with “signs following,” spoken of by St. Mark. It gives God’s infinite meaning to mankind, healing the sick, casting out evil, and raising the spiritually dead.
“Maintaining Trust in God”
By Milton Simon
The Christian Science Journal
June 1942
Trusting God is not passive resignation to something indefinite, nor is it lukewarm wishful thinking. It is an alert, intelligent, spiritually mental activity.
Having gained the sweet assurance that God is Love, unchanging Principle, one can trust Him with more certainty than one can trust anything visible to the material senses.
True trust does not give up in times of stress or give way before seeming defeat.
In handling financial problems, one can start now and put trust in God. When situations seem acute, the anxiety is often over a condition, which has not yet come to pass, fear and worry about what one may lack at some future time. But it is, and always will be, impossible for God not to be God.
Mary Baker Eddy writes in “Miscellaneous Writings”: “In the dark hours, wise Christian Scientists stand firmer than ever in their allegiance to God.”
Henry Austin wrote:
“There’s no defeat, in truth, save from within;
Unless you’re beaten there, you’re bound to win!”
There is no power that can resist or defeat conscious, wholehearted, understanding trust in God, good.
