46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.
121;7 The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: …
8 The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
4:8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.
6:4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:
11:2 know ye this day:
3 … his miracles, and his acts, which he did in the midst of Egypt unto Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and unto all his land;
4 And what he did unto the army of Egypt, unto their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Red sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how the Lord hath destroyed them unto this day;
7 … your eyes have seen all the great acts of the Lord which he did.
22 ¶ For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him;
25 There shall no man be able to stand before you:
33:12 …The beloved of the Lord shall dwell in safety by him;
1 … Sennacherib king of Assyria came, and entered into Judah, and encamped against the fenced cities, and thought to win them for himself.
2 And when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib was come, and that he was purposed to fight against Jerusalem,
6 … he set captains of war over the people, and gathered them together to him in the street of the gate of the city, and spake comfortably to them, saying,
7 Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him:
8 With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God to help us, and to fight our battles.
9 ¶After this did Sennacherib king of Assyria send his servants to Jerusalem, saying,
15 Now therefore let not Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you on this manner, neither yet believe him: for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of mine hand, and out of the hand of my fathers: how much less shall your God deliver you out of mine hand?
20 And for this cause Hezekiah the king, and the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz, prayed and cried to heaven.
21 ¶And the Lord sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land.
9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
11 And he said unto them, …
7: 24 ¶ ,,,, whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
4:28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,
29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.
30 But he passing through the midst of them went his way, …
27:1 And when it was determined that we should sail into Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners unto one named Julius, a centurion of Augustus’ band.
2 And entering into a ship of Adramyttium, we launched, meaning to sail by the coasts of Asia;
20 And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.
41 And falling into a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground;
44 … And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.
28:2 And the barbarous people shewed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us every one, …
3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.
4 And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.
5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.
6 Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.
3:1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments;
2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
5 ¶Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
29:25 …. whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.
1:9 … Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
SCIENCE & HEALTH WITH KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES
BY MARY BAKER EDDY
The history of Christianity furnishes sublime proofs of the supporting influence and protecting power bestowed on man by his heavenly Father, omnipotent Mind, who gives man faith and understanding whereby to defend himself, not only from temptation, but from bodily suffering.
Understanding the control which Love held over all, Daniel felt safe in the lions’ den, and Paul proved the viper to be harmless. All of God’s creatures, moving in the harmony of Science, are harmless, useful, indestructible.
The real jurisdiction of the world is in Mind, controlling every effect and recognizing all causation as vested in divine Mind.
SH 66:6-7, 10-11
Trials teach mortals not to lean on a material staff, — a broken reed, which pierces the heart.
Trials are proofs of God’s care.
There is but one primal cause. Therefore there can be no effect from any other cause, and there can be no reality in aught which does not proceed from this great and only cause.
SH 151:20-24, 26
Every function of the real man is governed by the divine Mind. The human mind has no power to kill or to cure, and it has no control over God’s man. The divine Mind that made man maintains His own image and likeness.
All that really exists is the divine Mind and its idea, and in this Mind the entire being is found harmonious and eternal. The straight and narrow way is to see and acknowledge this fact, yield to this power, and follow the leadings of truth.
All substance, intelligence, wisdom, being, immortality, cause, and effect belong to God. These are His attributes, the eternal manifestations of the infinite divine Principle, Love. No wisdom is wise but His wisdom; no truth is true, no love is lovely, no life is Life but the divine; no good is, but the good God bestows.
Divine metaphysics, as revealed to spiritual understanding, shows clearly that all is Mind, and that Mind is God, omnipotence, omnipresence, omniscience, — that is, all power, all presence, all Science.
SH 470:21-23, 32-5
God is the creator of man, and, the divine Principle of man remaining perfect, the divine idea or reflection, man, remains perfect.
The relations of God and man, divine Principle and idea, are indestructible in Science; and Science knows no lapse from nor return to harmony, but holds the divine order or spiritual law, in which God and all that He creates are perfect and eternal, to have remained unchanged in its eternal history.
We cannot deny that Life is self-sustained, and we should never deny the everlasting harmony of Soul, simply because, to the mortal senses, there is seeming discord. It is our ignorance of God, the divine Principle, which produces apparent discord, and the right understanding of Him restores harmony.
Divine Mind rightly demands man’s entire obedience, affection, and strength. No reservation is made for any lesser loyalty. Obedience to Truth gives man power and strength.
Resisting evil, you overcome it and prove its nothingness
God gives the lesser idea of Himself for a link to the greater, and in return, the higher always protects the lower. The rich in spirit help the poor in one grand brotherhood, all having the same Principle, or Father; and blessed is that man who seeth his brother’s need and supplieth it, seeking his own in another’s good.
SH 436:11-12, 13-14
Giving a cup of cold water in Christ’s name, is a Christian service.
Such acts bear their own justification, and are under the protection of the Most High.
Each successive stage of experience unfolds new views of divine goodness and love.
SH 589:9 God (to 1st ,)
God is the divine Principle of all existence, …
SH 589:10 man
… man is His idea, the child of His care.
When man is governed by God, the ever-present Mind who understands all things, man knows that with God all things are possible.
Step by step will those who trust Him find that “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings.

“Christian Science has come to this age teaching how to demonstrate the omnipotence of God, good, and the impotence and unreality of evil. Christian Science is a revelation; and the understanding of it furnishes complete protection from all evil. By the clear light, which Christian Science throws upon the Scriptures and upon human experience, mortals can gain an understanding of the truth of being, which includes all reality, and of the unreality of evil. And this spiritual understanding is the perception of the scientific fact that ‘the Lord he is God; there is none else beside him.’
“When we speak of protection, we do not imply the actual existence of some harmful thing to be guarded against. The realization of absolute protection involves the understanding of God and of His true likeness, spiritual man; and this includes the understanding that there is no reality to matter. Mortals entertain a material sense of existence, which is accompanied by a sense of fear, and so feel the need of protection. But God dwells forever in the light, which no shadow of evil ever penetrates. Likewise, the child of God, in the clear realization of his true spiritual selfhood, knows that no harm can come to him, because his dwelling place is forever in Spirit, where evil or matter is unknown.”
