With reports of violence and terrorism filling the news, maintaining a sense of peace and security can be challenging.
This month our prayer topic is “God is our Refuge.” Please join with us in praying to know where our true refuge is. A good place to start is the 91st Psalm:
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty…the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.” (Psalms 91)
For our prayer to be effective, it is vitally important to protect thought from suggestions to be fearful while listening to reports on the mainstream media. As Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures:
“Human sense may well marvel at discord, while, to a diviner sense, harmony is the real and discord the unreal. We may well be astonished at sin, sickness, and death. We may well be perplexed at human fear; and still more astounded at hatred, which lifts its hydra head, showing its horns in the many inventions of evil. But why should we stand aghast at nothingness?” (S&H 563:1-7)
