THE BIBLE
PSALMS
53:2 God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.
5 There were they in great fear, where no fear was:
56:1 Be merciful unto me, O God:
3 What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.
ISAIAH
50:10 Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light?
34:4 … Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.
41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee;
JOHN
4:47 … there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
48 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.
49 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
50 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.
51 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
52 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.
53 Then inquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
54 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.
MARK
9:17 And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit;
18 And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.
23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
26 And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him.
5:22 And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,
23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.
35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?
36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.
39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.
40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.
41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.
42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked;
LUKE
10:1 After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.
2 Therefore said he unto them, …
19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
JOHN
14:16 …I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
I JOHN
4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear:…He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
AND FROM PSALMS IN THE NEW ENGLISH BIBLE:
23:1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall want nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, and leads me beside the waters of peace.
3 He renews life within me, and for his name’s sake guides me in the right path.
4 Even though I walk through a valley dark as death I fear no evil, for thou art with me, …
6 Goodness and love unfailing, these will follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long.
AND AGAIN FROM THE KING JAMES VERSION:
II TIMOTHY
1:7 … God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
SCIENCE & HEALTH WITH KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES
BY MARY BAKER EDDY
Disease is an experience of so-called mortal mind. It is fear made manifest on the body.
S&H 392:5-8
Fear, which is an element of all disease, must be cast out to readjust the balance for God. Casting out evil and fear enables truth to outweigh error.
SH 368:31-32
When fear disappears, the foundation of disease is gone.
When the illusion of sickness or sin tempts you, cling steadfastly to God and His idea. Allow nothing but His likeness to abide in your thought. Let neither fear nor doubt overshadow your clear sense and calm trust, that the recognition of life harmonious–as Life eternally is–can destroy any painful sense of, or belief in, that which Life is not.
S&H 494:30-2
Our Master cast out devils (evils) and healed the sick. It should be said of his followers also, that they cast fear and all evil out of themselves and others and heal the sick. God will heal the sick through man, whenever man is governed by God.
Every trial of our faith in God makes us stronger. The more difficult seems the material condition to be overcome by Spirit, the stronger should be our faith and the purer our love. The Apostle John says: “There is no fear in Love, but perfect Love casteth out fear. . . . He that feareth is not made perfect in Love.” Here is a definite and inspired proclamation of Christian Science.
S&H 586:11 From the Glossary:
FEAR. Heat; inflammation; anxiety; ignorance; error; desire; caution.
SH 376:25-27 it
… it is impossible for matter to suffer, to feel pain or heat, to be thirsty or sick. Destroy fear, and you end fever.
SH 377:26-31
The cause of all so-called disease is mental, a mortal fear, a mistaken belief or conviction of the necessity and power of ill-health; also a fear that Mind is helpless to defend the life of man and incompetent to control it. Without this ignorant human belief, any circumstance is of itself powerless to produce suffering.
SH 71:1
Nothing is real and eternal, — nothing is Spirit, — but God and His idea. Evil has no reality. It is neither person, place, nor thing, but is simply a belief, an illusion of material sense.
SH 411:21-28, 32-1
Disease is always induced by a false sense mentally entertained, not destroyed.
Disease is an image of thought externalized. The mental state is called a material state. Whatever is cherished in mortal mind as the physical condition is imaged forth on the body.
Always begin your treatment by allaying the fear of patients.
If you succeed in wholly removing the fear, your patient is healed.
SH 391:32-2
Fear is the fountain of sickness, and you master fear and sin through divine Mind; hence it is through divine Mind that you overcome disease.
SH 209:2
It is the mortal belief which makes the body discordant and diseased in proportion as ignorance, fear, or human will governs mortals.
SH 231:20
To hold yourself superior to sin, because God made you superior to it and governs man, is true wisdom. To fear sin is to misunderstand the power of Love and the divine Science of being in man’s relation to God, — to doubt His government and distrust His omnipotent care. To hold yourself superior to sickness and death is equally wise, and is in accordance with divine Science. To fear them is impossible, when you fully apprehend God and know that they are no part of His creation.
SH 171:25-27
The so-called laws of matter are nothing but false beliefs that intelligence and life are present where Mind is not.
SH 330:27 (only)
Evil is nothing, no thing, mind, nor power.
SH 368:2-5
The confidence inspired by Science lies in the fact that Truth is real and error is unreal. Error is a coward before Truth.
SH 135:11-15
The same power which heals sin heals also sickness. This is “the beauty of holiness,” that when Truth heals the sick, it casts out evils, and when Truth casts out the evil called disease, it heals the sick.

“Conquering Fear”
By William Milford Correll
The Christian Science Journal, July 1967
“Fear is the basis of all disease. To heal effectively, one must conquer fear.
“… Christian Science teaches that man in God’s image and likeness dwells eternally in God’s presence and under His care. This Science teaches that the ability to conquer fear rests on an understanding of God and of man’s inseparable relation to Him.
“There is no other way to conquer fear than to understand the spiritual and eternal nature of man as God’s child. Fear is inevitably connected with mortality, with the sense that man is a material being and hence subject to limitation, suffering, and eventually death. Matter, material knowledge, material science, have no answer to this basic error.
“God is infinite Spirit, eternal Life. Man, who reflects this Life, is as eternal as God because he is at one with Him. This sense of oneness with God conquers fear.”
