RENEWAL

THE BIBLE

PSALMS

51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

103:1 Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

EZEKIEL

36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you:

27 … I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

28 … and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

ISAIAH

40:28 ¶ Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

31 … they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

35:4 Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.

GENESIS

6:5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.

6  And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

8  But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

14 ¶Make thee an ark of gopher wood;

17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven;

18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons’ wives with thee.

19 And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.

5 And Noah did according unto all that the Lord commanded him.

7:17 And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth.

24 And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.

8:1 And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters assuaged;

8:15 And God spake unto Noah, saying,

16 Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons’ wives with thee.

9:1 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.

11 And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.

EPHESIANS

4:22 … put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

24 … put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

26 let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

27 Neither give place to the devil.

31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

5:2  … walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, …

REVELATION

21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.

6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

II CORINTHIANS

6:2 … behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

17 … if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

SCIENCE & HEALTH WITH KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES

BY MARY BAKER EDDY.

SH 241:13-14

The Bible teaches transformation of the body by the renewal of Spirit.

SH 242:1-3

Through repentance, spiritual baptism, and regeneration, mortals put off their material beliefs and false individuality.

SH 241:23-24

One’s aim, a point beyond faith, should be to find the footsteps of Truth, the way to health and holiness.

SH 242:9

There is but one way to heaven, harmony, and Christ in divine Science shows us this way. It is to know no other reality — to have no other consciousness of life — than good, God and His reflection, and to rise superior to the so-called pain and pleasure of the senses.

SH 256:2-5

Advancing to a higher plane of action, thought rises from the material sense to the spiritual, from the scholastic to the inspirational, and from the mortal to the immortal.

SH 276:4-9 Let, 19

When the divine precepts are understood, they unfold the foundation of fellowship, in which one mind is not at war with another, but all have one Spirit, God, one intelligent source, in accordance with the Scriptural command: “Let this Mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.”

When we learn in Science how to be perfect even as our Father in heaven is perfect, thought is turned into new and healthy channels, — towards the contemplation of things immortal and away from materiality to the Principle of the universe, including harmonious man.

SH 406:19-25

Resist evil — error of every sort — and it will flee from you. Error is opposed to Life. We can, and ultimately shall, so rise as to avail ourselves in every direction of the supremacy of Truth over error, Life over death, and good over evil, and this growth will go on until we arrive at the fulness of God’s idea, and no more fear that we shall be sick and die.

SH 430:3-5

Mortal mind must part with error, must put off itself with its deeds, and immortal manhood, the Christ ideal, will appear.

SH 387:8 when

… when we realize that immortal Mind is ever active, and that spiritual energies can neither wear out nor can so-called material law trespass upon God-given powers and resources, we are able to rest in Truth, refreshed by the assurances of immortality, opposed to mortality.

SH 595:17

TIME. Mortal measurements; limits, in which are summed up all human acts, thoughts, beliefs, opinions, knowledge; matter; error; that which begins before, and continues after, what is termed death, until the mortal disappears and spiritual perfection appears.

SH 598:19 (to 2nd ;), 30-2

YEAR. A solar measurement of time; mortality;

Time is a mortal thought, the divisor of which is the solar year. Eternity is God’s measurement of Soul‐filled years.

SH 249:14-16, 18-20

God is the infinite, and infinity never began, will never end, and includes nothing unlike God.

Life is, like Christ, “the same yesterday, and to-day, and forever.” Organization and time have nothing to do with Life.

SH 584:4-6 The

The objects of time and sense disappear in the illumination of spiritual understanding, and Mind measures time according to the good that is unfolded.

SH 468:27-6

Life is without beginning and without end.  Eternity, not time, expresses the thought of Life, and time is no part of eternity. One ceases in proportion as the other is recognized. Time is finite; eternity is forever infinite. Life is neither in nor of matter. What is termed matter is unknown to Spirit, which includes in itself all substance and is Life eternal. Matter is a human concept. Life is divine Mind. Life is not limited. Death and finiteness are unknown to Life. If Life ever had a beginning, it would also have an ending.

SH 39:18-25

“Now,” cried the apostle, “is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation,” — meaning, not that now men must prepare for a future-world salvation, or safety, but that now is the time in which to experience that salvation in spirit and in life. Now is the time for so-called material pains and material pleasures to pass away, for both are unreal, because impossible in Science.

SH 328:20-25, 28-31

Understanding spiritual law and knowing that there is no material law, Jesus said: “These signs shall follow them that believe, . . . they shall take up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them. They shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

Jesus’ promise is perpetual. Had it been given only to his immediate disciples, the Scriptural passage would read you, not they. The purpose of his great life-work extends through time and includes universal humanity.

SH 242:9

There is but one way to heaven, harmony, and Christ in divine Science shows us this way. It is to know no other reality — to have no other consciousness of life — than good, God and His reflection, and to rise superior to the so-called pain and pleasure of the senses.

SH 487:27

The understanding that Life is God, Spirit, lengthens our days by strengthening our trust in the deathless reality of Life, its almightiness and immortality.

SH 446:20

To understand God strengthens hope, enthrones faith in Truth, and verifies Jesus’ word: “Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.”

“Spiritual Gifts”

By Audrey Hilliker

Christian Science Sentinel

December 5, 1959

“The source of all true gifts is God. The Bible declares (James 1:17), ‘Every good gift and ever perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of Lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.’

“If there is one who is struggling with the suggestion that the Christmas season is no longer as happy as it was in former years, because young people have left the home circle or because loved ones have passed from sight, let him ponder well the unvarying nature of the Father’s gifts.

“Are we really grateful for the great gift—the spiritual idea of man and the universe—and the understanding of this man through the Christ message now being brought to the world through Christian Science?  If so, how can we show our gratitude to our Leader for her consecrated work in establishing the Cause of Christian Science?

“The finest gifts we can give in gratitude to our Leader at this and every season of the year are our own spiritual growth and our increasing consecration to the Cause of Christian Science.

“The highest gift we can give to the world is to perpetuate and extend these tidings of great joy of which the angel spoke, and which will bring ‘on earth peace, good will toward men’ (Luke 2:14).”

“Love, goodness, wisdom, joy, purity, are always ours to express, and if we look about us we shall find ample opportunities to give of these qualities to hungering hearts.”
