FOLLOWING ARE PASSAGES FROM THE BIBLE AND FROM SCIENCE & HEALTH WITH KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES BY MARY BAKER EDDY:

PSALMS

62:11 God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.
67:4 O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth.
43:3 … send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me;
147:5 Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.

SH 149:26 God (to 4th ,)
God, divine Mind, governs all, not partially but supremely,…

SH 393:16-18
Be firm in your understanding that the divine Mind governs, and that in Science man reflects God’s government.

SH 171:12-13
Mind’s control over the universe, including man, is no longer an open question, but is demonstrable Science.

SH 180:25-27
When man is governed by God, the ever-present Mind who understands all things, man knows that with God all things are possible.

I KINGS

3:5 In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.
6 And Solomon said, …
7 …. O Lord my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.
9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?
11 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;
12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart;
15 And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.
16 ¶ Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.
17 And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house.
18 And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.
19 And this woman’s child died in the night; because she overlaid it.
20 And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.
22 And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son.
24 And the king said, Bring me a sword.
25 … Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.
26 Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it.
27 Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.
28 And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.

SH 6:3 (only)
Divine Love corrects and governs man.

SH 182:19-22
Obedience to material law prevents full obedience to spiritual law, — the law which overcomes material conditions and puts matter under the feet of Mind.

SH 128:4-6
The term Science, properly understood, refers only to the laws of God and to His government of the universe, inclusive of man.

SH 215:12-14
Whatever is governed by God, is never for an instant deprived of the light and might of intelligence and Life.

JUDGES

8:22 ¶ Then the men of Israel said unto Gideon, Rule thou over us, both thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son also: for thou hast delivered us from the hand of Midian.
23 And Gideon said unto them, I will not rule over you, neither shall my son rule over you: the Lord shall rule over you.

SH 125:16-17
Reflecting God’s government, man is self-governed.

SH 225:14-16
The history of our country, like all history, illustrates the might of Mind, and shows human power to be proportionate to its embodiment of right thinking.

SH 106:6-11
Like our nation, Christian Science has its Declaration of Independence. God has endowed man with inalienable rights, among which are self-government, reason, and conscience. Man is properly self‐governed only when he is guided rightly and governed by his Maker, divine Truth and Love.

ISAIAH

33:22 … the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; he will save us.
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever.

MATTHEW

19:1 And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan;
2 And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.
22:15 ¶ Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk.
16 And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.
17 Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?
18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?
19 Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.
20 And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?
21 They say unto him, Caesar’s. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.
7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

SH 19:29
Jesus urged the commandment, “Thou shalt have no other gods before me,” which may be rendered: Thou shalt have no belief of Life as mortal; thou shalt not know evil, for there is one Life, — even God, good. He rendered “unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.”

SH 442:1 (only)
Our statute is spiritual, our Government is divine.

MICAH

4:1 … in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.
2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths:
3 ¶ And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
5 For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the Lord our God for ever and ever.

I SAMUEL

2:10 The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the Lord shall judge the ends of the earth;

II PETER

2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy

SH 36:30-31
Religious history repeats itself in the suffering of the just for the unjust.

SH 94:12
The eastern empires and nations owe their false government to the misconceptions of Deity there prevalent. Tyranny, intolerance, and bloodshed, wherever found, arise from the belief that the infinite is formed after the pattern of mortal personality, passion, and impulse.

SH 225:2
Whatever enslaves man is opposed to the divine government. Truth makes
man free.

SH 224:29-30
The power of God brings deliverance to the captive. No power can withstand divine Love.

SH 225:21
Love is the liberator.

SH 420:3-4
Truth not error, Love not hate, Spirit not matter, governs man.

REVELATION

19:6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.

SH 587:25-27 (to 3rd ;)
Heaven. Harmony; the reign of Spirit; government by divine Principle;

SH 91:1-8
The Revelator tells us of “a new heaven and a new earth.” Have you ever pictured this heaven and earth, inhabited by beings under the control of supreme wisdom?
Let us rid ourselves of the belief that man is separated from God, and obey only the divine Principle, Life and Love. Here is the great point of departure for all true spiritual growth.

SH 208:20
Let us learn of the real and eternal, and prepare for the reign of Spirit, the kingdom of heaven, — the reign and rule of universal harmony, which cannot be lost nor remain forever unseen.

SH vii:20
Though empires fall, “the Lord shall reign forever.”

The chaotic effects of governmental instability on everyday life don’t have to be an accepted part of our world.

The move from being a political observer (and perhaps victim) to a witness of the Christ is huge. But it’s a mental one, and we can make this move today, right where we are, in whatever nation we find ourselves living. It involves acknowledging that the true government, the government that Isaiah prophesied as “upon his [the Messiah’s] shoulder” and of which “the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end” is more powerful in our lives than any human government.

In the calm of prayer, we can see that God’s government is always beneficial. Every individual is cherished as the child of God, and all have a right to prosperity and health. God’s government is stable, because God is unvarying good.

If God as Principle is the basis of our thought, we find a stability that is unshaken by political or economic elephants. This is the kingdom of heaven, a state of mind unmoved by any political turmoil.”

“Prayer for good government”
By Joyce E. Boshler

One day a dear friend asked me, “The Bible tells us to pray for those in positions of leadership and for the peaceful resolution of differences. But how can I know which side is right?”

The answer that came to me was that prayer for our government is not a matter of determining which individuals are right or wrong, or of siding with one and defeating the other. The solution to any problem is not in the problem but in the understanding that God, good, is All-in-all, and that man is His spiritual idea.

God, the divine Principle of all being, governs every one of His ideas in every circumstance. We can all be obedient to this all-loving Principle instead of allowing human will, personal loyalties, or ambition to motivate us.

This same concept applies to our prayer for government. In truth, each of us is God’s idea—His own creation, man. To express qualities of God such as goodness, truth, wisdom, and love is natural. The members of our government—who, in reality, are also God’s ideas—can respond to prayers that affirm their true, spiritual nature. And when we pray in this way, we aren’t praying for a particular human outcome—we are praying for God’s will to be done.

Sometimes it isn’t easy to do this, especially when we have strong feeling about what the human solution should be! But trusting in God’s government is essential. It frees us from limitations and unreliability of the human mind and opens us up to the infinite possibilities of the divine Mind, God. Prayer is not an effort to change or manipulate matter or persons. Rather, it includes a denial of anything that would make us believe that creation is material, composed of fragmented thoughts and beings who are inherently at war with each other.
